After Airtel and Reliance Jio, Amazon Fire TV Is Coming Soon To India

E-commerce giant Amazon is reportedly preparing to bring its Fire TV devices to India. The company is expected to launch the Fire TV Stick first in the country. For beginners, Amazon Fire TV is available in two flavors – a stick and a TV box. Speaking of pricing, the former will allegedly be available for Rs. 1,999 for Amazon Prime members. For others, it shall cost a whopping Rs. 3,999. The Amazon Fire TV Stick will also be sold through Croma and Reliance Digital stores apart from Amazon.in.

According to sources familiar with the company, Amazon has been considering to bring its Fire TV Stick to India since last year. First expected to launch alongside Amazon Prime Membership in July 2016, it got delayed to December. But due to some unspecified reasons that was canceled too. According to reports, the company is now determined to launch the Fire TV Stick in the country real soon.

Currently sold for $39.99 in the United States, the Amazon Fire TV Stick will reportedly available in India for Rs. 1,999. However, this price is exclusive to the Prime Members and for others, the MRP is Rs. 3,999. That said, Amazon is expected to throw in some attractive launch offers which may let you buy the TV stick for a price that you will not be able to resist!

Talking about the specifications of the Fire TV Stick, it is nothing fancy. Nonetheless, it is decent enough considering its price point. A MediaTek quad-core 1.3 GHz processor powers the TV stick. This is mated with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. There is dual band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth v4.1, HDMI output and a micro USB charging port.


Amazon Fire TV Stick Features

The Amazon Fire TV Stick can play Full HD (1080 x 1920) videos at up to 60 fps. It also supports Dolby Audio, 5.1 surround sound, 2-channel stereo, and HDMI audio pass-through up to 7.1 surround sound. However, the main charm of the TV stick is the Alexa Voice. With it, you can control your television through verbal commands. Amazon bundles the Alexa Voice Remote free of cost with the Fire TV Stick.

The home entertainment industry of India is presently evolving at a faster than ever speed. Recently, Bharti Airtel launched its Internet TV in the country and Reliance Jio is at the final stage of announcing their own IPTV set top box. Even though the Amazon Fire TV Stick shares some features with them, it’s main competitor is the Google Chromecast.
