iOS 11.2 update brings Apple Pay Cash, faster wireless charging

After the releasing the fifth beta version, Apple has finally rolled out the stable iOS 11.2. The major update for iPhone and iPad comes a month after the release of iOS 11.1. The update brings several new features, bug fixes and improvements to compatible devices.

Apple has introduced a few new features including Apple Pay Cash which is a peer-to-peer money transfer service now available to users in the USA. The update also brings faster 7.5W wireless charging on iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X with compatible third-party wireless charging accessories. Check out the detailed changelog below.

iOS 11.1.2 features and improvements

Apart from the above-mentioned features, the iOS 11.2 update also brings bug fixes and improvements.

iOS 11.2 new features

Apple Pay Cash to send, request, and receive money from friends and family within iMessage app or by asking Siri via Apple Pay account. However, the feature is available in the US only.


Further, the update brings faster wireless charging on iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X with compatible third-party Qi-based 7.5W wireless charging accessories. The update also brings three new Live wallpapers for iPhone X and redesigned camera emojis.

Improvements

The update improves video camera stabilization. It also improves VoiceOver stability in Messages, Settings, App Store, and Music and stability in Calendar. The update adds support in Podcasts to automatically advance to the next episode from the same show, and real-time text (RTT) phone calls for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Fixes

The update fixes several issues in the iOS 11. Some of them are, an issue that caused cleared Mail notifications from Exchange accounts to reappear, an issue where Settings could open a blank screen. For lock screen, it fixes an issue that could prevent swiping to Today View or Camera from the Lock Screen, and another issue that prevented Music controls from displaying on the Lock Screen.

The latest iOS 11.2 update is about 430MB and it varies depending on the device. The update is available over-the-air (OTA) for the following compatible devices, apart from current generation iPhones – iPhone 5s and later, iPad Air and iPad Pro, iPad 5th generation, iPad mini 2 and later and iPod touch 6th generation.
