Asus today unveiled four new smartphones in its Zenfone 4 series at an event held in Taiwan. The devices that were launched today are, the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 4 Pro, Zenfone 4 Selfie and Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro. The devices are camera centric.
As they are camera centric, the devices come with dual cameras. The Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4 pro come with dual rear cameras and the Zenfone 4 Selfie and Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro come with dual front cameras.
To recall, the phones were earlier surfaced online on company’s France e-shop, but later the links were removed. The company is said to be launching at least 6 phones in its Zenfone 4 series. It had earlier launched the Zenfone 4 Max and Zenfone 4 Max Pro.
Asus Zenfone 4 Specifications
The Asus Zenfone 4 features a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS LCD 2.5D curved glass display. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Zen UI 4.0 on top.
The phone comes in two variants. The first variant is powered by an Octa Core Snapdragon 660 processor with Adreno 512 GPU. The second variant comes with Snapdragon 630 processor clubbed with Adreno 508 GPU. The variants come with 4GB and 6GB RAM respectively. It is packed with 64GB internal storage that is expandable up to 1TB via microSD card.
On the camera front, there is dual rear camera setup with 12MP and 8MP sensors. The primary camera comes with f/1.8 aperture and features Sony IMX362 sensor. It also comes with 4-axis OIS, dual-tone LED Flash, and PDAF. The front camera is 8MP with f/2.0 aperture.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, NFC and USB Type-C port. It also features a front mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone is powered by a 3,300mAh battery.
The Zenfone 4 also sports Dual speakers and Dual internal mics with ASUS noise reduction technology. It also supports Hi-Res Audio 192kHz/24-bit and DTS Headphone:X 7.1 virtual surround sound.
Asus Zenfone 4 Pro Specifications
Zenfone 4 Pro is the flagship phone from the company. It features a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Zen UI 4.0 on the top.
It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone packs 6GB RAM. It comes with 64GB or 128GB storage which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD.
Asus Zenfone 4 Pro features a 12 MP + 16 MP dual camera at the back. The primary 12 MP Sony IMX362 sensor comes with f/1.7 aperture. The 16MP secondary camera featuring Sony IMX351 sensor comes with 2X optical zoom and a 10X total zoom.
The dual camera is powered by Asus SuperPixel Engine that claims to increase captured light by up to 8X. The cameras pack optical image stabilization (OIS) and depth-of-field effect as well. On the front, it sports 8MP camera with Sony IMX319 sensor and f/1.9 aperture.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac (2.4 and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS / GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The phone packs 3,600mAh battery with fast charging. The phone features a front mounted fingerprint scanner.
Moreover, the phone features Dual speakers. It supports Hi-Res Audio 192kHz/24-bit, and DTS Headphone:X 7.1 virtual surround sound support. It also sports dual internal mics with Asus noise reduction technology.
Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Specifications
The Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie features a 5.5 inch full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels) IPS Quantum display. The phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Zen UI 4.0.
The phone is powered by Octa-Core Snapdragon 430 SoC with Adreno 505 GPU. It is further packed with 4GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD.
Since it is a selfie focused phone, it also features a dual camera setup at the front. The primary front camera is 20 MP with LED flash while the secondary camera is of 8MP and comes with a 120-degree wide angle lens. It also packs SelfieMaster app. The rear camera is 16MP with PDAF and dual-tone LED flash.
On connectivity front it supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS. The phone houses a 3,000mAh battery.
Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro Specifications
The Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro features a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display. The phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Zen UI 4.0.
Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro packs a more powerful SoC. It comes with Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2GHz with Adreno 506 GPU. The phone packs 4GB RAM and internal storage 64GB expandable up to 128GB.
It is also upgraded on the camera front from Zenfone 4 selfie. The dual camera setup at front features a 24MP primary camera with LED flash and a secondary 120-degree wide angle lens. You can shoot 4K UHD selfie videos as well. The rear camera is 16MP with PDAF and dual-tone LED flash.
It also comes with connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS. The phone is powered by 3,000mAh battery with fast charge support.
Pricing and Availability
The Asus Zenfone 4 is priced at $399 (Rs. 25,600) and comes in Midnight Black, Moonlight White, and Mint Green colors.
The Asus Zenfone 4 Pro comes in Pure Black and Moonlight White colors. It is priced at $599 (Rs. 38,500).
The Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie which comes in Deepsea Black, Mint Green, Rose Pink, and Sunlight Gold colors is priced at $279 (Rs. 17,900).
Lastly, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro costs $379 (Rs. 24,300). It will be available in Rouge Red, Sunlight Gold, and Deepsea Black color options.
Asus has confirmed that the smartphones will be first launched in Asia. The phones will then be released to other markets worldwide. However, the company didn’t give exact information regarding the launch date.
