CES 2015: Entry Level HTC Desire 320 and Android Lollipop Based Desire 826 Announced

Prior to the debut of the CES 2015, HTC teased that it will be unveiling Desire smartphones at the tech show. As claimed, the vendor has utilized the platform to attract consumers and tech enthusiasts with its entry level and mid range smartphones in the Desire lineup. Well, the Taiwanese vendor has announced couple of smartphones – Desire 320 and Desire 826 at the show and they fall in different categories.

Talking of the Desire 320, it is an entry level offering in the lineup and the sequel to the yesteryear model Desire 310 The device boasts of a 4.5 inch FWVGA display with a screen resolution of 480×854 pixels. Running on Android 4.4 KitKat, the smartphone is powered by a 1.3 GHz MediaTek quad core processor backed by 1 GB of RAM. For imaging, the Desire 320 utilizes a 5 MP primary camera with LED flash and a front facing VGA camera.

The storage department of the entry level HTC offering is handled by 8 GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded externally by another 32 GB using a micro SD card. The handset is given connectivity options such as 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. A 2,100 mAh battery is housed within it to pump in 12 hours of talk time.

The Desire 826, on the other hand, carries the credits for being the first Android 5.0 Lollipop based smartphone in the Desire lineup. It boasts of a 5.5 inch display with a FHD screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. There is a 64 bit octa core Snapdragon 615 processor operating under its hood with support for LTE connectivity. The handset comes with a better imaging department with a 4 MP UltraPixel front facing selfie camera and a 13 MP primary camera at the back. The other aspects of the Desire 826 include 16 GB of expandable native storage space and a 2,600 mAh battery.


Notably, the Desire 320 is based on Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense UI bundling the BlinkFeed software feature. On the other hand, the Desire 826 is claimed to be launched as a limited edition model initially in the Asian markets from this month with the global rollout to follow thereafter. There is Sense UI that tops the Android Lollipop platform on Desire 826 as well.
