HMD Nokia Asha

HMD Global has acquired the Asha trademark under which Nokia had earlier released affordable phones. With this acquisition, we can expect the company to release new phones under the Asha brand.

Nokia Asha phones were low-cost devices from the company that were launched before the company was taken over by Microsoft. A little while after the acquisition, these devices were discontinued as they were competing against the low-end Lumia devices. Now, we can expect to see a Nokia Asha smartphone soon as HMD Global has acquired the trademark.

New Nokia Asha phones by HMD Global?

HMD Global may soon re-introduce the Nokia Asha brand with low-cost smartphones. As we talk about the brand, we also have a new smartphone, the Nokia 1 which is expected to be the most affordable device so far. We can safely say that the Nokia 1 can come with Asha branding on it. Also, there can be other devices from the company to compete with affordable smartphones like JioPhone and devices from Intex and Micromax.

Talking about the Nokia 1, it is tipped to be an Android Go smartphone from the company. The device is expected to sport an IPS-LCD display with HD resolution. We can speculate it to be similar to that of the recently launched Nokia 2, which sports an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.

In terms of hardware, the Nokia 1 may come with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. We also expect a microSD card slot on the phone. It is tipped to come with Android Oreo Go, which is a watered-down version of Android Oreo for low-end smartphones.
