HTC Bolt With 5.5 inch QHD Display, No Headphone Jack Announced

HTC today announced Bolt, its latest smartphone in the US in collaboration with Sprint. The HTC Bolt will be available in Sprint stores as well as HTC’s online store in the US starting from today. The Bolt will be available for $25 per month with 24-month contract. The Bolt will be available in Silver and Black color options.

HTC Bolt Specs

The HTC Bolt runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The device features a 5.5 QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The device comes with a pixel density of ~534 PPI. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Bolt comes with IP57 certification, which means it is dust and water resistant. The device. HTC has users to not intentionally submerge the device as the water resistance may deplete over time.

The HTC Bolt is powered by an Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 coupled with Adreno 430 GPU. It is disappointing to see that HTC is using last year’s SoC in a flagship device. The 810 was infamous for its heating issue. HTC had to use the Snapdragon 810 as one of Sprint’s requirements was the ability to do 3x carrier aggregation which is not possible with the Snapdragon 6xx series.


HTC Bolt

HTC Bolt comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256 GB via microSD card. The device comes with a dedicated microSD card slot.

Coming to the camera department, the HTC Bolt features a 16 MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, OIS, phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and dual LED flash. The device can record videos up to 2160p @ 30 FPS. On the front, the device sports an 8 MP secondary camera for selfies.

The HTC Bolt comes with a 3,200 mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support. Like Apple, HTC has removed the 3.5 mm audio jack. Instead, the device will use USB Type C-enabled headphones. It comes with comes with HTC BoomSound Adaptive Audio, which scans your ears and the ambient noise around you to adjust the audio output according to your personal needs.

On the connectivity front, the device comes with 4G LTE,  Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C 1.0.
