HTC U11 starts receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update in India

After announcing the update some time back, HTC has finally rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for HTC U11 users in India. The Taiwanese company has announced on Twitter that the HTC U11 Android 8.0 Oreo update is live now and users can update their smartphones to receive the latest Android OS.

HTC had already announced the Android 8.0 Oreo update for some of their smartphones including the HTC U11. Now, HTC India has officially announced the rollout of the Android 8.0 Oreo stable build for HTC U11 on Twitter. “HTC U11 Oreo Update is live. Start updating now. #HTCU11 #Oreoupdate” said the tweet.

Some users have even received the update that is available in the form of an OTA download. The screenshot shared by users does not show many details in the update changelog. However, it does mention important additions like bug fixes and system enhancements.

HTC in its homeland Taiwan has already rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update back in November 2017. Now, the update is finally available in India as well and comes with an approximate file size of 1.48GB. The software update with version number v3.16.708.3 brings Android 8.0 Oreo to the HTC U11 flagship.


HTC U11 Specifications

The HTC U11 was launched back in May 2017. The smartphone sports a 5.5 inch Quad-HD (1440×2560 pixels) Super LCD display. The HTC U11 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage. Notably, the phone comes with its USP feature called Edge Sense, which allows launching of apps by squeezing the edges of the phone.

In the camera department, the HTC U11 sports a 12MP rear sensor with OIS, f/1.7 aperture, dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording. Up front, there is a 16MP secondary camera with features like Face Detection, Pro Mode with manual control and RAW format support.

The phone comes with a 3,000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0. The phone supports 4G VoLTE and will now run Android Oreo. The software update will bring numerous new features including Picture-in-picture mode, Notification dots, Autofill, among other new features to the flagship smartphone.
