HTC U12 leaked render surfaces revealing full screen display

HTC might launch its latest 2018 flagship, dubbed as HTC U12 with a full-screen display. A newly leaked render of the HTC U12 has surfaced online which reveals that the smartphone will sport an all-screen display design and also the fingerprint scanner will be moved to the back.

A tech publication SuggestPhone has posted the rendered image of HTC’s latest flagship phone. The image shows that the device will sport an 18:9 aspect ratio display with minimum bezels on each side. This will not be the first full screen display phone from the Taiwanese company as they have earlier launched a full-screen display as HTC U11+.

Further, according to the rendered image, the HTC U12 will sport the power key and volume rockers on the right. The USB charging port is at the bottom. Notably, the company has decided to skip the 3.5mm audio jack. The image has also revealed a single front-facing camera.

Moreover, there is no visible fingerprint sensor on the front, so it might be placed on the back panel or could be ditched. The fingerprint scanner is expected to be moved to the rear to accommodate the taller screen. The report also claims that the company could also ditch the fingerprint sensor and opt for an iris scanner.

A previous report had suggested that the smartphone will feature a 4K display and is expected to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The device is expected to feature a dual rear camera setup. There is not any official confirmation about the phone as of now and this leak should be taken with a pinch of salt.

HTC is supposed to launch a limited number of smartphones this year. A previous report has claimed that the company will focus on its R&D and marketing efforts because it had faced losses during the first half of 2017. The company’s plan for 2018 was also revealed in the same report and according to it, the company could be releasing two new smartphones this year and the HTC U12 could be one of them.
