HTC U12+ announced with 6-inch QHD+ display, dual front, rear cameras

HTC has finally announced the much anticipated HTC U12+, the company’s flagship smartphone. The device comes with premium hardware and design and has priced starting at $799. It comes with four cameras, two at the front and two at the back.

The HTC U12+ comes in Translucent Blue, Ceramic Black and Flame Red color options and is currently available for pre-order in the U.S. and Europe. It is expected to be launched in other countries in the coming days.

HTC U12+ Specifications

The HTC U12+ runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with HTC Sense UI skinned on top. The device features a 6-inch Quad HD+ Super LCD 6 display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It comes with  DCI-P3, HDR10 and sRGB support. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

In terms of performance, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. It comes in two variants – 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage.

Coming to the camera department, the HTC U12+ features a dual camera setup at the back consisting of 12MP HTC UltraPixel 4 primary camera with f/1.75 aperture, 1.4μm pixel size, PDAF, Laser autofocus and OIS, along with a 16MP secondary telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture and 1.0μm pixel size. It can record 4K videos at 60 FPS and 1080P slo-mo videos at 240FPS.

On the front, the device sports a dual camera setup at the front consisting of an 8MP + 8MP setup with 1.12μm pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, AR stickers and bokeh effects. The device comes with IP68 certified water and dust resistance.

The HTC U12+ is powered by a 3,500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options on the device include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS, NFC and a USB Type-C port. The device lacks a 3.5mm audio jack. It comes with HTC USonic with Active Noise Cancellation and HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition support.
