Indus OS And Delta ID To Soon Launch Aadhaar Authenticated Operating System

Domestic operating system brand Indus OS is collaborating with iris scanning technology provider Delta ID. They recently announced that they are looking to launch an Aadhaar authenticated operating system (OS) for Indian users. The operating system will be the first ever Aadhaar-authenticated OS which will use iris-biometric technology for a secure identification and authentication modality.

Delta ID Indus OS

In an official statement, the Co-founder and CEO of Indus OS, Rakesh Deshmukh said, “ We look forward to our partnership with Delta ID, which is the market leaders in iris-based authentication technology, and expect to release the first Aadhaar-authenticated OS this quarter. The Operating System will be releasing across the company’s smartphone brand partners and we are looking to capture 100 million users for using Aadhaar-authenticated OS by 2020.”

The operating system supports 12 Indian languages. With the help of a dedicated iris scanning camera built into the smartphone, the unique software of the company along with hardware captures the iris-ID information of the user. The operating system first encodes the information and then encrypts it with UID’s public key. The encrypted information is further sent to the UIDAI server for a match. After this, UIDAI server responds and results in a token, ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.

With a ‘Yes’ token, a user is authorized to utilize the Aadhaar ID for a whole set of activities. With the particular operating system, the adoption of Aadhaar-based services will be made much faster and the company is planning to partner with six domestic brands initially. The brands include Intex, Karbonn, Celkon, Swipe, and Micromax. Let’s see by when we can see the new operating system on our smartphones.
