Intex Aqua Star 4G with 3G Data Saving Features At INR 6,499

Homegrown device manufacturer Intex, has launched a new smartphone dubbed as Intex Aqua Star 4G carrying a price tag of INR 6,499. The smartphone will be available in Black, White and Grey colors. The marquee feature of the smartphone is that it comes with inbuilt data saving function iData Saver.

The specifications of Intex Aqua Star 4G are pretty basic but it comes with 4G connectivity at this price range which sets it apart from the lot. It sports a usual 5 inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display and is powered by a quad core Mediatek processor clocking 1 GHz coupled with 1 GB of RAM. The internal storage is 8 GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB.

This smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and features 8 MP rear camera with 2 MP front facing camera. A 2000 mAh battery under the hood is providing power to this phone.

The specifications are not so great as there are phones with far better specifications in this price bracket. Intex Aqua Star 4G comes iData Saver feature, based on Opera Max technology which reduces the mobile data consumption by reducing data usage across all apps on the smartphone. Users can track the data used by apps and get the most out of their limited data plans.


Aqua Star 4G is the first smartphone in India to use Opera Max functionality in its operating system. Commenting on the launch Nitin Bhandari, senior vice president for products at Opera said, “Opera Max has been a huge success in India; a large proportion of our global user base comes from the Indian market. This clearly demonstrates that India is a tech savvy market, whose users demand the best data plans and who also need a platform that helps them control their data consumption more effectively. We are extremely delighted to partner with Intex and pleased that they chose our Opera Max compression technology to enhance their users’ mobile experience. 

Apart from mobile data saving app other useful feature that Intex Aqua Star comes loaded with are Swalekh and Matrabhasha apps which will enable the user to write in his native language across all apps on the phone along with 21 native languages support.
