Intex iRist smartwatch which we talked about yesterday, has been officially launched in Shanghai, China at ongoing MWC 2015, and will be available in India for 11,999 INR. Rather than being a regular smartwatch it is more of a mini smartphone which you can strap on your wrist.
iRist is running full Andorid 4.4 KitKat instead of Android Wear and includes full smartphone feature set, including Cellular calling, MicroSD card slot and a 5 MP camera. The display is 1.56 Inches in size and it is an OLED display sourced from Samsung.
The Intex iRist will come in three designs as you can see in the images above. The side edges and back panel is metallic while the front glass is sapphire glass, which makes iRist very rugged. Out of 4GB native storage, 1.2 GB is available at user end.
iRist is powered by MediaTek 1.2 GHz dual core MT6572. A power button is present on the watch, along with volume rocker, but you can also use double tap to wake up. Loudspeaker is also present to hear music. A pedometer is also present to count your steps. A 600 mAh battery is present inside the IP57 certified water resist casing.
It is not the ultra cheap Android smartwatch which we expected, but it is a different concept Watch which includes your smartphone features and familiarity and solid build quality. Intex iRist will soon be available for purchase in India for 11,999 INR.
