JioPhone Booking Starts on August 24, Registrations Now Open

Reliance JioPhone’s official pre-booking will start on August 24. Registrations for the JioPhone are open now. Individual users and businesses who are interested can register on the Reliance Jio website.

The public beta testing of the phone will begin on August 15. And, as announced at the time of launch of JioPhone, it will go on sale in September. Reliance Jio says it will deliver the 4G feature phone on the first come first serve basis and plans to deliver 5 million units per week.

How to Register for the Reliance JioPhone

To register as an individual user for JioPhone, users can just go to the official Jio website Jio.com. On the home page, there is Jio phone banner with ‘Keep Me Posted’ button. On clicking it users will be directed to a registration form, with two options, I am ‘An Individual’ or ‘Business’.

As an Individual

They have to fill their name, email id, phone number and pin code. After submitting all these details, a message is sent to their registered mobile number thanking them for their interest in the JioPhone. The message also reads that the company will keep them updated with developments related to the JioPhone. Although no confirmed date is provided in the message.


As a business

For business, there is another registration form, which can be selected initially. The form asks for a contact person name, email, and number. Next, company’s name, pin code, Pan number or GSTN number of the company is asked.

The form also asks about the number of devices required and includes the option of choosing both the JioPhone and JioFi, the Wi-Fi hotspot device. It is not yet clear if businesses will get different pricing and plans for the JioPhone.

Features and Offers on JioPhone

Reliance JioPhone comes with 4G VoLTE capabilities. The Phone features an alphanumeric keypad and 2.4-inch QVGA display. The phone will run Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 processor, though some units could have a Spreadtrum processor as well.

Notably, it has a web browser and Facebook. Moreover, the phone will also run Jio’s in-house apps, including JioTV. The phone also sports microSD card slot, torch light, FM radio and it will also support NFC-based payments in the future.

The JioPhone comes with a monthly plan of Rs 153. It offers 500 MB of data per day with 28 days validity, which totally sums up to 14GB of data per month. All voice calls, including STD, are free on the Jio network.

JioPhone is priced effectively at Rs zero, but it comes with a catch. Users will have to deposit Rs 1500 as security, which is fully refundable but only after a period of three years. The user will also have to hand over the phone to reclaim the deposit.

As per reports, JioPhone will be manufactured by Intex, while it is also tipped that Chinese company Foxconn may also produce JioPhone. However, to recall, Intex itself launched its Turbo+ 4G feature phone recently. Besides this, some other companies are also said to be in the process to launch their 4G feature phones soon to counter JioPhone.
