Two all-new Samsung smartphones in the Galaxy Pocket 2 and the Core 2 Duos were spotted being listed on a Vietnamese e-commerce portal recently, hinting to a launch that might be due soon. The devices go easy on the specs and are hardly intimidating, but both feature the latest dessert offering from Google – Android KitKat.
There’s no official word from Samsung as yet, but we expect an official announcement sooner than later.
True to its name, the Galaxy Pocket 2 will feature a very pockatable form factor, consisting of a screen that measures just 3.2 inches. This is a far cry from what we’ve been seeing in the past, but only time will tell if its for good or otherwise. If you haven’t yet guessed that its going to be an entry level phone, the specs should convince you about that – it’ll come with a 1GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB on-board storage and HSDPA connectivity. A 2 mega-pixel camera will grace the rear, with rear camera specifications yet to be known. The device will have support for dual SIM.
Moving on to the Core 2 Duos, the device will again feature KitKat and dual SIM like the Pocket 2, but on a much larger 4.5-inch Canvas. This device will be much more capable when performance is concerned, thanks to a quad-core CPU that will sit under the hood along with 768MB of RAM. A 5 mega-pixel camera will sit on the rear of the device, with a VGA unit on the front to take care of your video calling, and the odd selfie. Storage remains the same at a paltry 4GB; we hope Samsung gives it a price tag that makes even the 4GB look good.
