Lava has introduced a camera centric smartphone, dubbed as Icon, with 7.7 mm slim profile priced at 11,990 INR. The handset will be available offline and online exclusively on Snapdeal.com starting from 1 PM today. Snapdeal will be offering an additional selfies stick to customers with Icon.
Speaking of imaging hardware, the rear camera has a 13 MP Sony Exmor sensor layered beneath a 5 piece wide f2.0 aperture lens. The front camera has a 5 MP Omni Vision sensor and a 4p F2.4 aperture lens to facilitate good quality selfies. Camera software also aids selfies lovers with beauty mode and other software options.
Lava is using a 5 Inch IPS LCD display with 720p HD sharpness, protected by scratch resistant Dragon-Trail glass. Chipset used includes 1.3 GHz quad core CPU – most likely MediaTek’s reliable budget star MT6582, coupled with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB native storage, befitting to the price tag.
Lava is using custom Android Skin called Star OS on Lava Icon. The company highlights that you can draw custom symbols on lock screens to fire specific apps of your choice.
The 2500 mAh battery can last for 13 hours of talk time on 3G and 9 hours of talk time on 2G. Lava hasn’t detailed other usage stats yet. Other features include 32 GB MicroSD support, 3G, WiFi, MicroUSB and Bluetooth.
Commenting on the launch Mr. Navin Chawla, Vice President and Head Product, Lava International stated that the company will be shifting its approach towards experience driven devices, and Lava Icon marks the beginning of this new phase.
