Lava is planning to launch couple of new smartphones in the sub Rs 5,000 price bracket. These smartphones have been listed on the vendor’s official website without their pricing and availability information. However, the e-commerce portals have listed the Iris 349i and Iris 404e for Rs 2,899 and Rs 4,499 respectively.
As per the listing, both the smartphones are dual SIM offerings that are pretty basic. The Iris 349i is based on the dated Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread platform that is prone to security threats and the Iris 404e is fueled by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean that is also little dated.
On the specifications front, the Lava Iris 349i arrives fitted with a 3.5 inch HVGA display with a screen resolution of 320×480 pixels and incorporates a single-core 1 GHz processor of unspecified chipset. This SoC is backed by 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of native storage capacity that can be expanded externally by another 32 GB via a micro SD card.
The Iris 349i boasts of a 2 MP primary camera without LED flash and a VGA front-facing selfie camera for basic video conferencing. The handset comes with connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 2G and uses a 1,400 mAh battery to keep it powered for moderate hours. This smartphone is available for Rs 2,899 on online retailer Saholic.
The Lava Iris 404e, on the other hand, houses a 4 inch WVGA display with a screen resolution of 480×800 pixels. Powering the handset is a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor of unspecified chipset that is teamed up with 256 MB of RAM and 2 GB of internal storage capacity of which only 1.2 GB is user accessible. However, there is a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32 GB expandable storage.
In terms of image, the Iris 404e comes with a 2 MP primary camera with LED flash and uses a VGA front facer at the front. The other aspects are pretty similar to the Iris 349i and this device is available via Flipkart for Rs 4,499.
