The Chinese Multinational Lenovo has started the New Year with a bang and announced four new smartphones all set for International release. The first in the series is the mid range smartphone Lenovo A859 which comes with a price tag of $ 219 (~Rs. 13, 700) and is expected to be available soon.
The Lenovo A859 packs a 5 inch display with 1280 x 720p HD resolution. The Display type is IPS LCD and thus will give you 178 degree viewing angle similar to other IPS LCD displays. The pixel density of 294 ppi should be sufficient to eliminate any visible pixilation.
The Lenovo A859 is powered by 1.3 Ghz MT6582 low cost Quad core processor from Mediatek, same chipset we saw in Intex Aqua i6 and Lenovo A850. The chipset in backed by 1 GB RAM and assisted by Mali 400 GPU. The Onboard storage is 8 GB and can be further extended to 32 GB using a microSD card.
The primary auto focus camera has an 8 MP sensor which falls short on the megapixel count compared to the rivals. The camera comes with LED flash for better low light performance. The front camera of 1.6 MP is also present.
The Battery capacity is 2250 mAh which is above average. Connectivity features of this Dual SIM phone include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The Lenovo A859 is slightly thick at 9.2 mm and runs on Android 4.2 jelly bean operating system.
According to Lenovo, this phone will be available for purchase in countries where Lenovo phones are sold starting immediately. Lenovo had earlier stated that it will adopt a new smartphone strategy in 2014, and if it manages to keep the price in the vicinity of 15,000 mark, it will make a difference.
