[CES 2017] Misfit Vapor Smartwatch Launched

After trying hands on low-power, jewelry-like wearables, the Fossil Group owned, Misfit has launched a new touchscreen smartwatch at the ongoing CES 2017. Tagged as Vapor, the smartwatch has a 1.4-inch full AMOLED touchscreen display, built-in GPS, optical heart rate sensors, and a two-day battery life, as claimed by the company.

Misfit Vapor

The Misfit Vapor is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and features 4 GB onboard storage. The Vapor also features a touch bezel, which is a thin strip of display used to control few functions of the watch.

The first look will not give you a different appeal, it is quite similar to the other round-faced smartwatches already in the market. The dial is made up of stainless steel and it will be offered with interchangeable straps.

The Misfit Vapor pairs with the smartphone through Bluetooth or can be connected to WiFi for standalone capabilities. The company has not announced the operating system on which the watch will run but, according to speculations, it is a forked version of Android Wear. The company also claimed that the watch is not the final version and it might bear some minute changes when it is introduced in the market.

Price and Availability

This is the first time that Misfit has entered a segment where most of the tech giants are not taking much interest due to poor sales. The Misfit Vapor smartwatch is expected to ship in late 2017 and might be tagged around $200 (approximately Rs 13,500). Let’s see how consumers will respond to this new smartwatch and whether the company can create a difference in the market or not.
