Moto G 1st and 2nd Gen Starts Receiving Android Lollipop Update in India

Several days after official soak test, Motorola has finally started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update on Moto G 2nd Gen and Moto G 1st Gen in India. Like always, the update is being rolled out in phases and if you haven’t received the update notification, you will receive it soon.

Motorola will be directly pushing Android 5.0.2 Lollipop to both Moto G smartphones as previously reported. The new Android ROM will bring several changes and improvement, the most noticeable being the new material design, with vibrant colors, animations and several interface changes.

With new ART runtime, you can also expect some boost in performance and battery life. After upgrading to Lollipop, your applications will undergo a one-time optimization process. Optimization for art will require more space

Interestingly, ambient display feature will also be available on both Moto G smartphones. This feature lights up a part of the display when a notification arrives. If you turn this feature on, this will consume more battery, partly because the Moto G has an IPS LCD display (full backlight needs to be powered) and not an AMOLED panel.

Other features to look forward to include new battery saver mode, Flash light in quick settings, Lock-screen notifications, new interruption settings, Pin screen, and many others. Complete change log for Moto G (1ST Gen) and Moto G (2nd Gen) is available on official website.

You can also manually check for update by tapping Settings>>About Phone>> System Updates. Make sure that your phone is at least 50 percent charged and that you are connected to a WiFi network before you proceed. After the update, your phone will be updated to 220.21.28.
