Opera Mini Reaches 50 Million Users Milestone in India

Opera Mini browser is getting popular in India with a user base of over 50 million users. As pet the latest statistics by Opera Software, Opera Mini is the third largest mobile app used in India following Facebook and WhatsApp.

India is the largest market for the Opera Mini browser as it compresses the webpages by 90 percent thereby letting users to browse more without an increase in the usage bills. It also makes the webpages faster in order to enable browsing on the go more convenient even in regions with poor network connectivity.

Opera Mini uses an efficient compression technology and low RAM requirements that resolves the issue faced by the entry-level smartphone users. Moreover, 16 Indian handset manufacturers have already pre-installed the Opera Mini on over 350 Android devices that exist in the market.

In India, the number of Opera’s smartphone users has grown by 110 percent in comparison to the previous year. This accounts for 50 percent of Opera’s total user base and they are spread across Opera’s portfolio of browsers including Opera Mini and Opera’s high-end smartphone browsers such as OperaCoast for iOS devices and Opera for Android.


Also, the Opera browsers support multiple Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujrati, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Assamese and Kashmiri.
