OPPO is a smartphone manufacturer, less known in the Indian market but becoming popular with its new phone launches in India. Today, Oppo announced the launch of their cost-effective model in the Indian market, called the OPPO Neo 5. This smartphone was launched last year in the month of August in other markets but has just hit the shelves in the Indian market. The phone has a sleek design and it comes with a dual metal skeleton body. The device is available in India starting today as announced by the company.
The OPPO Neo 5 is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad Core MediaTek MT6582 which is supported by 1GB of RAM. The phone sports a 4.5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 480 x 854 and a 2000mAh non-removable Li-Polymer battery. It claims to provide 180 hours of standby time. The phone also features dual SIM slots, one of which is a Micro-SIM slot and the other one is a Nano-SIM slot. The device runs on Color OS 2.0.1i based on Android 4.4 Kitkat, which looks really neat and clean aesthetically.
Other features on the phone include an 8 Megapixel primary camera and a 2 Megapixel secondary camera. The phone also sports an LED flash with the primary camera. The on-board storage for the device is 8GB only, but it can be expanded with the help of a Micro-SD card up to 32GB in size. The phone has a unique mirror-like appearance which looks really good.
Tom Lu, CEO of OPPO Mobile India said in a statement that the OPPO Neo 5 is targeted at customers who want superior specifications at decent pricing. OPPO has a target of reaching and catering to all mobile phone segments in the market and is trying to focus on rural India more than urban India.
