Samsung Galaxy J2 With 4.7 inch Display, 4G LTE Launched At INR 8490

Korean manufacturer Samsung has announced the entry-level Galaxy J2 for the budget-conscious Indian market pricing it at INR 8490 and is slated to go on sale this September 21 via retail channels.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 packs some impressive features under its compact body and sports a 4.7 inch qHD Super AMOLED display which is common for this price range. It comes with a 1.3 GHz quad-core Exynos 3475 processor and 1 GB of RAM and runs on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 with Touchwiz UI over it.

A key feature of the device that was developed by Samsung’s Indian R&D facility is their Ultra Data Saving mode which works in tandem with Opera Max which is essentially centered around data optimization and effective memory management. In fact, Samsung claims that the UDS mode can provide up to 50% savings in data and can free up to 11% RAM.

The Galaxy J2 sports a 5 Megapixel auto-focus primary camera and a 2 Megapixel secondary camera which can take decent pictures. The camera app features the new Palm Selfie mode which clicks the photo when you show your palm to the front camera.

On the storage front, the Galaxy J2 features 8 GB of internal storage with an expandable memory card slot of upto 128 GB, which is unheard of in this price segment. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Dual Sim, GPS and Bluetooth to name a few.

The phone is just 8.4 mm thick which is not bulky at all and feels quite comfortable in your palm. It draws power from a 2000 mAh battery which will provide ample juice to keep it running throughout the day and comes in Gold, White and Black colors along with a metallic finish and faux-leather back panel.

While there are several devices in the same price segment to give the Samsung Galaxy J2 a run for its money, brand loyalists looking for a sub-10k phone may consider this a value-proposition.
