Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, Designed for Rugged Conditions Launched as AT&T Exclusive

Samsung has just launched the rugged version of its flagship smartphone Galaxy S5 named the Galaxy S5 Active. The Galaxy S5 in itself came with water and dust protection as it was IP67 rated but the S5 Active takes thing to the next level. The smartphone is  shockproof too and is in compliance with the US Mil-STD 810G for shock, temperature, humidity, rain and altitude. So the S5 Active is pretty much your go anywhere kind of a smartphone.

The specifications remain similar to the regular Galaxy S5 (international version) so if this ever makes its way to India, it will feature the specifications of its Indian counterpart. Talking about the S5 Active, it comes with a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display unit which has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Ticking inside is a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with a 2GB RAM.

It runs on the latest version of Android which is 4.4.2 KitKat with TouchWiz UI on top. At the back is the same imaging unit as the S5 which is a 16MP camera unit with LED Flash and it gets coupled with a 2.1MP front camera. The internal storage capacity stands at 16GB which can be expanded by another 128GB with the help of a microSD card. It gets the usual set of health related applications such as S-Health.

Connectivity department will be taken care of by 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi and NFC. It has a 2,800 mAh battery under the hood and comes in  Camo Green, Titanium Gray and Ruby Red colours. It has been announced for US carrier AT&T for the time being and we expect a global roll out to begin soon.
