Sharp Aquos R Compact announced with Snapdragon 660: Specs, features, more

Japanese smartphone maker Sharp has announced a new smartphone to its lineup, dubbed as the Aquos R Compact. It is a toned down version of the Aquos R. The device comes without bezels on the top, left and right side but has a good amount of bezels on the bottom.

The Aquos R Compact is a tri-bezelless smartphone from Sharp comes with a fingerprint sensor integrated in the home button. It comes with a cut for the front camera on the front.

The Sharp Aquos R Compact runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with the company’s EMOPA 7.0 custom UI skinned on top. The device features a 4.9 inch full HD IGZO display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The small display along with the bezel-less design makes the device compact and easy to hold.

In terms of performance, the Sharp Aquos R Compact is powered by an Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 clubbed with Adreno 512 GPU. The device comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via microSD card.

Coming to the camera department, the Sharp Aquos R Compact features a 16.4MP primary camera with PDAF and an LED flash. On the front, the device sports a 8MP secondary camera.

The Sharp Aquos R Compact is powered by a 2,500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB Type C port. The device comes with IP68 water and dust resistance.

Pricing and Availability

Sharp has not announced the pricing of the Aquos R Compact. The device will be available in Gold, Black, White, and Silver color options starting from December.
