Sony today launched its new flagship phone, Sony Xperia Z2, in India for Rs. 49,990. The best of Xperia series packs high end hardware and has everything that you would expect from it. The launch event took place in New Delhi and was streamed Live on the internet.
Sony also presented its Life band which accessorizes with Xperia Z2 and provides lifelog app data, can be used for remotely shooting pictures and vibrates when your get notifications. The Smartband will come bundled with the device for free, for other Xperia phones owners (Android KitKat and Above), the band will cost 5,990 INR. It will also come with Free Flip cover worth Rs. 2,990.
The IPS LCD display is 5.2 inches in size and bears full HD 1080P resolution. Sony’s inclusion of IPS LCD this time solves the viewing angle and washed out color problems that we saw in its predecessors.
Sony’s live color LED technology also seems to work unlike other underwhelming technology associated with Sony Displays. It still incorporates Triluminos technology and XReality Engine along with IP58 dust proof and Water resistant certification.
The processor employed is 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 quad core backed by 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. You can also expand the storage by 128 GB using MicroSD support. The software is Android 4.4 KitKat with Sony’s custom UI on top. As expected the software is feature loaded borrowing something from all flagships and introducing some new ones.
At the back is present a 20.7 MP rear camera with G Lens capable of 4K video recordings and supported by a feature loaded camera app (Including bokeh effect option which lets you decide the depth of field). It is also supported by LED flash . At the front, you will get a 2 MP shooter and you can effect several effects to your selfies including soft skin effect to hid wrinkles and spots on your skin.
The battery capacity is quite impressive at 3200 mAh and you will also get Stamina mode to better handle crisis situation. Overall Sony Xperia Z2 has everything that you would expect from it, including a beautiful display, power full chipset, IP58 certification, Innovative Camera and S Force Front surround sound speakers. You will also get free streaming from Sony Channels for limited period of time along with option to download 6 HD movies and Full HD cricket game for Free.
Sony Xperia Z2 will not support 4G LTE in India for now. Sony Xperia Z2 will be available on the shelves starting from 12th May 2014.
