It took a while, but Sony has finally launched its next Flagship phone, Xperia Z4 powered by Snapdragon 810 chipset. Going the HTC way, Sony has left several things unchanged, subtly improving upon the predecessor in several key areas.
For starters, once again Sony is using the familiar omni balance design, with glass back and Aluminum frame, all confined within 6.9 Inches. Sony has refrained from Quad HD display and has rather opted for tried and tested 1080p 5.2 Inch Triluminous IPS LCD display with 600cd brightness.
Like all other recent flagship devices, Sony is using Snapdragon 810 quad core chipset with 4 cortex A57 and 4 Cortex A53 cores to balance performance and power consumption. Graphics will be handled by powerful Adreno 330 GPU paired with 3 GB RAM. This is sufficient horsepower even for the most demanding tasks.
Internal storage is 32 GB and can be further expanded by another 128 GB using MicroSD card slot. Sony is using the 20.7 MP rear camera sensor with very large 1/ 2.3 Inch size and 4K recording support. A front 5.1 MP Exmor sensor selfie shooter is also there and interestingly, this selfie snapper also features Optical Image stabilization besides a wide angle lens.
There are no flaps on Audio jack and USB port, but the Xperia Z4 flaunts IPX5 / IPX8 ratings for dust and water resistance. Sony has also used new LDAC audio compression codec to please audiophiles. Software is Android 5.0 Lollipop based Xperia UI.
Other features include 4G LTE /3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ GLONASS, MHL 3.0, NFC and 2930 mAh battery.
Xperia Z4 will be available in White, Black, Copper and Aqua Green colors, but there is no official word on price or availability as of now.
