Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Android 8.0 Oreo Global Beta ROM Needs Testers

Xiaomi started the beta testing of Android 8.0 Oreo Global Beta ROM for Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and inviting testers for the same, with the last date for the application being January 8, 2018. The Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will roll out to the selected users once the beta testing will complete.

Xiaomi announced the news on its official MIUI forum inviting Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 users to test the new Global Beta MIUI ROM based on Android 8.0 Oreo. There is no restriction based on the region the user is from, but the English language is mandatory for communication. Xiaomi is using QQ as the default communication tool for the beta testing programme.

The applicant must be running the latest MIUI Global Developer ROM as a requirement to test the new Beta ROM. The applicant must also be active on the MIUI forums and should be ready to discuss with other members of the panel.

Users need to download the MIUI Global Forum app to apply for the beta testing programme. After downloading the app from Google Play, the user needs to select recruitment on the homepage app. Fill out the information required such as country and smartphone, then click the Submit button. The forum will then notifies the selected applicant via PM.


Xiaomi posted a disclaimer mentioning the risks of using the beta ROM on the smartphone. Xiaomi also said that the ROM would be carrying some bugs which will need time to fix. Recently, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 got a price cut in the Indian market, and it is now available at a new price of Rs. 32,999.
