Xiaomi Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 Pro India Launch Set For September 5

Xiaomi Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro smartphones are all set to be launched in India on September 5. Xiaomi has sent out invites to a press event scheduled in New Delhi as well as posted a teaser on Twitter with ‘Desh Ke Naye Smartphones are coming very soon’ tagline which they had used for the Redmi 5A last year.

The teaser video shows the number ‘6’ and a sketch of three devices. Going by the sketch, two devices are seen sporting an 18:9 display which could be Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A and the third device is seen sporting a notch display, which could be the Redmi 6 Pro. All the Redmi 6 devices have already been launched in China back in June.

If we recall the specs, both the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A sport a 5.45-inch HD+(1440×720) 18:9 display. The Redmi 6 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core chipset, while the Redmi 6A is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core processor.

In the camera department, the Redmi 6 sports a dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors at the back. While the Redmi 6A features a single 13-megapixel sensor at the rear. Both the phones feature a 5-megapixel front camera.

Both the phones are powered by a similar 3,000mAh battery. Connectivity options on both phones include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS. The Redmi 6 comes with a fingerprint sensor, but the Redmi 6A supports face unlock feature instead.

The Redmi 6 Pro is the most premium of the three, and it was also launched as Mi A2 Lite globally. The smartphone features a 5.84-inch FHD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch on top. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor with up to 4GB RAM.

In terms of camera, the smartphone features a dual-camera setup at the back with a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP secondary sensor. There is a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies.

The Redmi 6 Pro gets a 4,000mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 on top. The smartphone also sports a dedicated microSD card slot with support up to 256GB.

Redmi 6 Series Expected Price in India

The Redmi 6 price in China starts at CNY 799 (Rs. 8,400 approx.) for the 3GB+32GB variant while the 4GB+64GB model costs CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 10,500). The Redmi 6A is priced at CNY 599 (Rs. 6,300 approx.) for the only 2GB+16GB variant.

Lastly, the Redmi 6 Pro is priced at CNY 999 (Rs. 10,400 approx.) for the 3GB+32GB variant. The 4GB RAM+32GB variant costs CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 12,500) and the 4GB+ 64GB variant is priced at CNY 1,299 (Rs. 13,600 approx.).
