Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Explodes In Pocket, Owner Sustains Injuries On Thigh

A Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 turned into a fireball in the owner’s pocket. The owner of the alleged Redmi Note 4 sustained deep injuries on his thigh. The case comes from Ravulapalem in East Godavari District.

On Sunday, the owner of the alleged Redmi Note 4, Bhavana Suryakiran was riding his motorcycle from his home to shop when the phone suddenly caught on fire in his pocket. Suryakiran was unable to pull out the phone as it was burning so some locals came to his aid.

According to the reports, even when the locals pulled out the Redmi Note 4 after pouring water on it, the phone was still ablaze. The owner says that he had bought the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 just 20 days back.

What became of the phone?

Seeing the reported image, you will see that most parts of the phone was molten and disfigured by the burning. Since the battery is placed on the lower half, that part of the phone is entirely disfigured.

The top of the phone is also visibly molten, but the camera module seems to be unaffected. Coming to the sides, you will see that the Redmi Note 4’s left side is molten while the right side is completely gone out of shape.

If you look carefully, you will see that flames were still coming out of the bottom-left edge of the phone.

This is the second case of a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 exploding. The first case was reported in Bengaluru, where the owner had used a third-party charger on his Redmi Note 4.

However, in this case, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 caught fire in the owner’s pocket. The phone was neither being charged nor used. This incidence brings to question the battery of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

Below is a video from another news portal from Andhra Pradesh. It is in Telugu though.
