Xiaomi showcases a smartphone with fingerprint scanner under whole display

Xiaomi has been working on a new smartphone which will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Interestingly, it will be under the whole display. A small video teaser has been posted by the co-founder of the company itself. The smartphone will have in display fingerprint sensor under the whole display panel, you can unlock your phone by holding your finger on any spot of the display.

The prototype smartphone has been posted on the Chinese social media website Weibo. The CEO and co-founder of Xiaomi, Lin Bin has demonstrated how you can unlock your smartphone by holding your finger on any spot of the smartphone display. The Lin Bin first registered his fingerprint by taping on a special spot on the display once. Then he unlocks the smartphone by tapping on a random spot on the display.

According to the CEO, Lin Bin, the fingerprint sensor is about 50mm by 25mm. It is bigger than the fingerprint sensor on a traditional in-display fingerprint sensor. He further added that the sensor is not only big but also very reliable making is very accurate. You can unlock your phone without even looking at the screen making it easy to unlock the smartphone.

The concept looks amazing and it works really well in the teaser video. Xiaomi might bring it to future smartphones.
