Following the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Xolo Q1000 Opus in May, the vendor officially announced that it will be rolling out the same for a slew of its handsets including Q700S, Q1010, Q1010i, Q3000 and more in June. As claimed, Xolo has announced on its official Facebook page that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Q1010i is ready to install.

While the change-log brought in by the update is still not revealed, the users of Q1000 Opus have reported many issues after the upgrade. There were issues regarding Wi-Fi Chaos as the users were not able to turn on Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi hotspot and Wi-Fi signal dropping issues after the update. Other issues include excessive lag, unreliable notifications, hanging problem, hasty changes in screen brightness and signal dropping on SIM cards.

It is believed that Xolo is working on a fix for the issues caused due to the Android KitKat update. In the meantime, it is not sure if the update to Xolo Q1010i is without any bugs. However, the users who have updated their handsets claim that the handset is pretty much faster after receiving the update along with reduced RAM consumption.

  1. I applied this update on my Xolo Q1010i yesterday morning. The phone has become too slow to be almost unusable. Others, please do not apply this update. I really want to revert back to 4.2 but don’t know how. Would appreciate if anyone can help provide steps to revert to factory OS image.

    • Thanks for sharing your experience. contact nearest Xolo center near your home they will flash 4.2 and it shouldn’t take much time

      • As mentioned by you they installed Android 4.2 and said that Kitkat is not applicable yet for my phone. They were vague about when would a Kitkat update be applicable for my phone. They said something like we will call you or you can call us and we will try…sort of thing. This was my first experience using Xolo phone and contacting their customer service. Irritating part was that they asked me to bring and submit a photo-copy (xerox copy) of my purchase receipt to log a service request, even though I was showing my original receipt. I had to cross streets, find a xerox center come back and submit the “copy” to log a request. I submitted the phone in morning and got it flashed in the evening. Though my phone has been flashed back to 4.2 and is working as earlier, the experience of Xolo customer care was not impressive.
