InFocus II-50EA800 50 Inch LED TV Unboxing and Quick Review

InFocus has launched a new range of affordable LED TVs in India. The company showcased these TVs back in September 2015 but it took its time to bring it to the market and finally they are available on Snapdeal. The new range of TVs doesn’t have anything unusual or unique but their prices are something that is compelling for the Indian consumers. InFocus has also introduced ‘Free Demo service’ in collaboration with the e-commerce partner Snapdeal to give free tutorials to its buyers.

Physical Overview

InFocus II-50EA800 follows a very basic design language that we have seen in many LCD or LED TVs and in PC monitors as well. The build quality feels fine and it is made mostly out of good quality plastic. It is a 50 inch TV so it is meant to be huge and covers a lot of space. It takes almost 4ft width to adjust on a table. You can mount it on a wall or also place it on a table using the twin TV stands found in the box. Usually we get only one stand to place the TV but this TV uses two stands due to the bigger size, and to get a firm hold.

The connectivity ports are on the back, including the 2 HDMI ports, VGA port and 3.5 mm audio port on the bottom whereas the USB port is on the side. The TV is light in weight and can be easily carried from one place to other. The physical buttons are on the bottom right of the TV, which has the power, volume, channel and other buttons.

The IR receiver and the LED light is placed at the bottom left corner, which I feel is not a smart move by the designer. It would have been better if it was in center.

The size of the remote is just like any other TV remote. The remote has the limited number of buttons and the good thing is that it does not have unnecessary buttons.

Ports & Connectivity

InFocus II-50EA800 allows up to two HDMI ports with each of Composite Video In/out. It also has AV In, VGA, and PC Audio In, Headphone jack, RF and one USB port. As we know, this is not a smart TV and does not come with WI-Fi support or wired internet support.  It does not offer features to select subtitles or audio change option in the USB video playback.

Picture Quality

This TV uses a bright LED backlit panel from Innolux. It comes with the DLED technology, which is considered to be just about average in terms of contrast colours or black levels. DLED technology is used mostly in the cost saving TV sets which come at an affordable price. Leaving the technicality on the back seat, I was really impressed with what I saw with my bare eyes. All the elements were nicely excecuted to bring out the best picture quality at this price point. The contrast was good, depending on which file type you are playing, viewing angles were great, colours looked fair and I did not notice the videos getting pixelated from a distance of more than 1 meter.

Audio

It comes with two down firing speakers with 8 Watt of power each for stereo sound output. Both the speakers are placed at the bottom corners of the TV. The sound quality and loudness is not very powerful but still good for the price and it is considerable for viewiwng TV serials or movies without any issue. If you are buying a TV of this size, I will suggest you to invest some money in a good pair of speakers to enhance the experience. You can have the home theater experience with such huge display and good surround sound any day.

Conclusion

At INR 34,999 this 50 inch LED TV offers deep and accurate colours, with well controlled saturation in pictures. There are few shortcomings of this TV but the size vs price ratio balances it without a doubt. If you are looking for a simple and affordable TV with big display size, then this one is perfect for you. You can buy a pair of good speakers and attach them to this TV and have the home theater experience in less than half of its cost.
