[MWC 2017] Alcatel Unveils A5 LED, A3, U5 Smartphones & PLUS 12 Tablet

When everyone is announcing their new smartphones at MWC, Alcatel is not left behind. Alcatel announced three new smartphone and a tablet at MWC 2017, Barcelona. The smartphones are Alcatel A5 LED, A3, U3, U5 and the tablet is Alcatel PLUS 12. These are affordable series smartphones however the company hasn’t revealed the prices yet.

Alcatel A5 LED was the main highlight as it comes with a very exciting removable LED back cover which is something new to see. The LED pack covers are also very customizable and we can set a particular colour for calls, messages, mails, etc which is a great feature. Where all these smartphones runs on Android, the Alcatel Plus 12 tablet runs on Windows 10 OS.

Alcatel A5 LED Specifications

Alcatel A5 LED

The Alcatel A5 LED features a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display with HD (720p) resolution. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core Mediatek MT6753 chip-set coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has got 16GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable via micro-SD card.

Camera optics includes a 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual tone LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera with LED flash. It runs on Android Marshmallow (6.0) and packs a 2,800mAh battery.


Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual SIM, WiFi  802.11b/g/n, WiFi direct, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Micro USB 2.0. It measures 146 x 72.1 x 7.7mm and thickness goes up to 10.2mm with LED covers.

Alcatel A3 Specifications

The Alcatel A3 features a 5 inch IPS LCD display with HD (720p) resolution. It is powered by a 1.25 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 chip-set coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. It has got 16GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable upto 32GB via micro-SD card.

Camera optics includes a 13MP rear camera with auto-focus, LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera with LED flash. It runs on Android Marshmallow (6.0) and packs a 2,460mAh battery.

Connectivity option includes 4G LTE, VoLTE, VoWiFi, dual SIM, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, WiFi direct, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, and a micro USB port. This device surprisingly comes with a fingerprint sensor and front-facing speakers.

Alcatel U5 comes with a 5 inch FWVGA (854×480) LCD IPS display. It is powered by a 1.1 GHz quad-core chip-set coupled with 1GB of RAM. It has got 8GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable via micro-SD card.

Camera optics includes a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front facing camera. It runs on Android Marshmallow (6.0) and packs a 2,050mAh battery. Connectivity option includes 4G LTE, dual SIM, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a micro USB port.

Alcatel Plus 12 Specifications

The Alcatel Plus 12 features a 11.6 inch IPS LCD display with full-HD (1080p) resolution. It is powered by an Intel Celeron N3350 processor coupled with  4GB of RAM. It has got 32GB eMMC SSD and 32GB (micro-SD card) of inbuilt storage which is expandable upto 128GB via micro-SD card.

Camera optics includes a 5MP rear camera. It runs on Windows 10 OS and is backed by a 26.8WHr battery. Connectivity option includes 4G, Wi-Fi, micro HDMI, USB-A, USB-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It measures 284 x 175 x 7.9mm.

The tablet comes with a detachable keyboard which is powered by Qualcomm MDM9207 chip-set and is coupled with 128MB of RAM. It packs a 2580mAh battery and features a full-size USB-A port for connectivity.  It also supports 4G LTE and Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 15 devices.

Pricing and Availability

Company hasn’t revealed any details about the pricing and the availability of all the four Alcatel devices. However since the smartphones are affordable series phones so we expect it to be priced very reasonably.
