Google Assistant Go released for devices running on Android 8.1 Oreo

Android Go is the light version of Android 8.1 Oreo which Google has made for the smartphones which come with less RAM. The tech giant has also started working on some Go version of all the Google apps like Gboard, YouTube, and Maps. Today, Google has released the lite version of the Google Assistant for Android Go called the Assistant Go.

The Assistant Go will come pre-installed on smartphones with Android Go OS. It works same as the regular Google Assistant that is found on the current Android devices but will work on devices with less RAM. As it is a trimmed down version of the Google Assistant, it lacks some of the capabilities like setting reminders, controlling the smart home devices, actions on Google and device actions.

The Assistant Go is currently limited to some selected language only, including English, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese and Thai. The Google Assistant Go will allow you to ask about the local weather, information about the restaurants, business hours, navigations, make calls and ask it to launch an app which is installed on the smartphone.

The Google Assistant Go app has already been listed and is available to download from the Google Play Store. The app might not show on some devices with high specifications because Google has made this app only for smartphones which come with less RAM.

If your smartphone is supported then you can download the Assistant Go app on your smartphone using this Google Play link.
