8 Reasons That Make Honor 8X a Special Phone in Mid-range Segment

Honor 8X has been a popular phone ever since it was launched. The highlights of the phone are a premium glass back design, notch display with a small bottom chin, new Kirin 710 processor with up to 6GB RAM, dual rear AI cameras and a 16MP front camera. All these features make it a special phone in the mid-range category. The Honor 8X price in India starts at Rs. 14,999 for the base model.

Here, we are telling you eight reasons why Honor 8X is a special phone in the mid-range segment.

Build Quality

Starting with the build quality, the Honor 8X looks very premium in comparison to other mid-range devices because of its glass sandwich back design with a metal frame. The phone has a metal unibody with glass back which is not very common for a phone worth Rs. 15k.

The front of the phone also looks quite impressive with a big display and a very small bottom chin that also gives the device a 91% screen-to-body ratio. Honor used a new technology to get such small chin on the bottom. Overall, in terms of the design and build quality, the Honor 8X looks a stunner.

Display

HOnor 8x

The 6.5-inch IPS LCD display on the Honor 8X is surely one of its key features. The display makes it look more premium with minimal bezels on each side and a very small chin at the bottom to offer an immersive experience.

The display bears FHD+ resolution so the colors are quite accurate and it is bright enough in both daylight and indoors. The display of Honor 8X also has an Eye Comfort mode that automatically changes the color temperature in the night to decrease the blue light emissions.

Kirin 710

The Honor 8X is powered by the new octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 processor that is clocked at 2.2GHz and coupled with Mail-G51 MP4 GPU. The Kirin 710 is a powerful processor in the mid-range segment that can perform better than Snapdragon 636. This new chipset form Huawei is based on the 12nm process. Moreover, it also supports GPU Turbo technology, so it is quite fluid in gaming. We played PUBG and Asphalt 9 on it without any lag.

Memory

In terms of memory and storage, the Honor 8X comes in three variants- 4GB RAM/64GB storage, 6GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB RAM/128GB storage. You can get a phone with massive 6GB RAM and 128GB storage at only Rs. 19,000. The storage in Honor 8X can also be expanded up to 400GB with the help of a dedicated microSD card slot.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, it supports two Nano-SIM cards using dedicated SIM card slots and a dedicated microSD card slot. It also supports dual 4G VoLTE feature so you can use two 4G SIM cards at a time. There are also other usual connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/AGPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou. There is no compromise in terms of connectivity.

Cameras

The Honor 8X comes with a dual rear camera setup of a 20 MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2 MP secondary depth sensor. It sports a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and several AI features. We found the portrait mode and AI features did a pretty good job on Honor 8X.

The rear camera has several modes like Portrait, HDR, AI features with 22 scene recognition, AIS, Night Shooting, AI sports shot, and AI Super Slo-Mo recording at 120fps/480fps. The Night Shooting mode allows adjusting the shutter speed and ISO to capture better pictures in low light. The front camera also has AI Portrait, Night Shooting, and Beauty modes.

Unlocking Methods

The Honor 8X supports all the unlocking techniques. It comes with an AI Face Unlock feature that can unlock the device in just a moment. The Honor 8X also sports a back-mounted fingerprint sensor that is quite fast and responsive too.

Battery

The Honor 8X packs a 3,750 mAh non-removable battery. It can easily last for a day with moderate usage, however, if you are a heavy user, you need to charge it at the end of the day. It doesn’t support fast charging but still, it charges a bit fast with the bundled charger and cable.

The Honor 8X is priced at Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB/64GB variant, Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB/64GB model and Rs. 18,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant. The Honor 8X is available to purchase online exclusively via Amazon.in in Black and Blue color options.
