Huawei Mate 9 Lite Listed On Official Website

Chinese tech giant Huawei has added one more member to its Mate 9 family today, called Huawei Mate 9 Lite. The company did not plan any special launch event for this phone, and listed the phone on its official website instead. Mate 9 Lite is the 4th device in the Mate 9 series, joining Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro and Mate 9 Porsche Design edition.

As the name suggests, the Mate 9 Lite comes with toned down specs and will be sold at a more affordable price point. Those who prefer the Mate 9 line-up and were looking for an affordable smartphone can surely keep an eye on this one. It has a full metal unibody structure with a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Huawei Mate 9 Lite Specs

The Mate 9 Lite comes with a 5.5 inch full HD display, with 2.5D curved glass on front. Under the hood, it has the Kirin 655 Soc with an Octa-core CPU with 3GB/4GB RAM variants depending on the market. The 3GB RAM cariant will have 32GB internal storage and the 4GB will have 64GB storage.

On the camera front, it comes with a dual camera setup on back with a 12MP +2MP camera whereas the other siblings had 20MP + 12MP cameras, and the Leica branding on the Lite is also missing. The primary 12MP has 1.25 micron pixels and PDAF. The second one is used to capture depth-of-field to create better pictures. On the front it has an 8MP camera for selfies and video calling.


It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s own EMUI 4.1 on top. The battery is quite hefty with a capacity of 3340 mAh. The dimensions are 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm and it weighs just 162 grams.

Pricing And Availability

Huawei has not revealed any information about the pricing and availability of the Mate 9 Lite as of now. We will update you as and when the company announces anything in this regard.
