Intex Aqua QWERTY Quick Review, Price and Comparison

Intex has just launched the Aqua Qwerty for Rs 4,990 and the smartphone comes across as a one of its kind in the budget range of smartphones. Smatphones in the budget range usually have a small screen and that causes some issues while typing so Intex went ahead and launched a device with a touchscreen and a QWERTY keypad for a better experience. Let us take a quick review of the device to see what it has on offer:

Camera and Internal Storage

The Intex Aqua Qwerty is a budget device so don’t expect it to win any photography competitions for you. However, for those occasional clicks and rare video calling, Intex has given the device a 5MP rear camera with a LED flash and a VGA front camera.

Intex has given the Aqua Qwerty an internal storage ability of 4GB which can further be expanded by another 32GB. This is what you get in every sub Rs 10,000 device and Intex has done well to bring the same to a sub Rs 5,000 device.

Battery and Processor

A 1,500 mAh battery has been plonked in the Intex Aqua Qwerty and the battery will do just enough to last for a little under a day. It is nothing exceptional but you aren’t paying a fortune either for it. A 1.2 GHz dual core processor does the duty inside the device which we think is probably a Mediatek unit and it gets coupled with a 512MB RAM. Considering the price of the device, the battery and processor are just fine.

Display and Features

The display unit of the Aqua Qwerty is a 3.5 inch screen with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. But what is interesting is the complete physical QWERTY keypad that accompanies the screen. It comes with well spaced out keys and will get your typing needs taken care of pretty easily.

It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and we don’t expect it to be updated in future as well. But it brings the experience of touch alongside the physical hardware keys for typing is a pretty useful feature. It will surely attract to the people who are tired of typing on small screens.

Looks and Connectivity

The smartphone looks well and has a decently big footprint. It won’t win any design awards and the design is as simple and minimalist as it gets. It surely does not look like a sub Rs 5,000 device and that is quite a good point for it.

3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS are there for connectivity and getting a 3G device in this price range is quite a feat in itself and Intex has surely made things simpler with the Aqua Qwerty.

Comparison

There are no direct competitors to the device in this price range as this form factor is still unexplored. However if you are looking for a device that provides you with value for money in this price range, you can consider the Karbonn A27 Plus, Zen Ultrafone 502 and the Spice Stellar Flo Mettle 5X
