Physical Overview

In my opinion, the Lenovo Vibe S1 looks the best among all the Vibe series phones launched till date. It is light weight, stylish, premium and has a great overall form factor. The front and back are covered with Gorilla glass coating and the sides sport metal with chamfered edges. There are no sharp edges around the phone, the back is also curved and has a glossy finish which attracts a few stains and fingerprints, and also makes it a bit slippery.

It weighs just 137 grams and has a very thin body which feels great to hold and use with one hand. Lenovo has used good quality material for the finishing and succeeds in making it look elite.

User Interface

Lenovo Vibe S1 has latest version Vibe UI based on Android Lollipop. It is swift, smooth and easy to use while switching apps, opening and closing of apps. The animation in the UI makes the user experience very different from the stock Android and come with a lot of tweaks in the software. The Vibe UI offers a lot of widgets and theme options to customize the look of your device. The settings are almost the same found in stock Android lollipop but offers a few extra settings for the additional features added by Lenovo.

Camera Overview

The Vibe S1 comes with 13 MP rear camera and Dual-front cameras having 8 MP and 2 MP sensors. The camera UI is similar to the Vibe UI based phones, it offers a lot of modes to play with the camera and have fun with your pictures. The screen refresh rate is fast, autofocus works well, and the shutter speed is also snappy. HDR photos take few extra seconds to produce but the results are really good.

Images in good lights were impressive; the colour and details are great for this price. In low-light also the 13 MP snapper performed impressively though the shutter became a bit slow. The colour output was great and details also looked accurate and sharp. Front is pretty new to use, offers different modes to play with the image. It produces clear and vibrant images in day light, where the low-light performance is also good if compared to other smartphone camera of this range.

Price & Availability

Lenovo Vibe S1 comes in 2 variants- the first one is the White coloured variant and the other one is the Purple coloured and it is priced at INR 15,999. It will be sold exclusively on Amazon and the open sale start from 11:59 PM today onwards.

Comparison & Competition

Lenovo Vibe S1 falls in the price bracket of 16-18k INR phones, it has got premium looks and built quality which works in favor but on the other hand, some other phones like Moto X Play has got bigger battery compared to Vibe S1. Another phone with which competes with Lenovo Vibe S1 is recently launhed OnePlus X which has got some cool features and powerful specs. It will also compete with Lenovo Vibe P1, which comes with gigantic battery and some other cool features.

Conclusion

At INR 15,999, the Lenovo Vibe S1 is a steal. It comes with a great hardware, which is capable to run almost all the apps and top-end games with an ease. It has great look and feel, with a very light weight design. The dual-front camera is the first of its type and perform well, with an amazing looking FHD display. We expected the price to be around 20K but Lenovo has set the pricing aggressively, maybe the recent OnePlus X launch has heated up the competition.
