As per a recent report, Micromax has gone on to become the number 1 smartphone manufacturer in India and it plans on increasing its dominance over others in future as well. It has just launched another entry level handset named the Bolt A082 for Rs 4399 and it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. Let us take a quick review of the specifications of the device:

Camera and Internal Storage

We don’t really expect it to be a photography buff’s delight as it is an entry level device. At the back of the Bolt A082 is a 2MP camera with a LED flash and the front of the device is adorned by a VGA camera. The imaging module is just there for a click every now and then and last minute vanity checks but that is pretty much the whole of it.

The internal storage of the Bolt A082 stands at 4GB out of which we believe about 2GB will be available to the users. You can’t expect more in this segment but Micromax has given the device a microSD card slot too which allows for expansion of memory by another 32GB.

Processor and Battery

Under the hood of the Bolt A082, there is a 1GHz dual core processor which joins hands with a 512MB RAM. The performance levels are expected to be decent enough considering the fact that it is one of the cheapest ones out there and will give you a level of performance that will be justifying the upgrade from a feature phone.

The battery unit providing it the juice to run is a 1,700 mAh battery which we believe is good enough for a device of this price and specifications. We can’t complain about the battery of the device as you usually get even smaller batteries for devices priced around Rs 5,000-5,500 so we like what Micromax is offering.

Display and Features

The Bolt A082 comes with a  which has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Seeing the fact that it has an IPS panel, the device will have fairly decent viewing angles when compared to others in the range. It gets dual speakers up front and music keys as well to go with it.

It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat which is quite a good thing for a budget device. It gets 2G for connectivity in addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. It comes with dual SIM functionality and will come in a wide array of colours such as white, violet, yellow, blue and red.

What we like

  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • Decent battery capacity

What we don’t like

  • Camera

Comparison

The Bolt A082 will have a slew of devices against which it will have to battle it out. It will be going up against the likes of Celkon Campus A15K and Micromax Bolt A065
