Camera and Internal Storage

The primary snapper has an 8 MP sensor that is pretty standard among the smartphones in this price bracket. This snapper is clubbed with LED flash and FHD 1080p video recording that render superior performance even under low light conditions. For the selfie lovers, there is a 1.3 MP front-facing shooter that assists in making video calls. These aspects make the device an standard one on paper as far as its imaging department is concerned and there are many such offerings in the sub Rs 10,000 price bracket.

The handset bundles a paltry 4 GB of internal storage space that is insufficient to store the default software and downloaded applications. However, Panasonic has included a micro SD expansion card slot in the device that facilitates in extending the storage space up to 32 GB.

Processor and Battery

A 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor powers the Panasonic Eluga A smartphone from within. This processor is aided by an Adreno 302 graphics unit and a standard 1 GB of RAM capacity. This hardware combination is definitely sufficient enough to render a decent performance with moderate graphics and multi-tasking capabilities.

The handset draws energy from a 2,000 mAh battery that is pretty average for a sub Rs 10,000 priced smartphone. We expect this battery to provide a mediocre backup to the device under mixed usage.

Display and Features

The display is 5 inches in size with a usable 854×480 pixel resolution. The display is an IPS panel making it capable of rendering decent viewing angles. This should make the display suitable for all the basic tasks like the other phones in the range.

The Panasonic Eluga A runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system and it comes with connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. Furthermore, Panasonic is providing a free screen guard along with the Eluga A smartphone.

Based on Qualcomm Reference Design, the Eluga lineup of devices come with Audio+ audio enhancement technology for a rich 3D surround sound, wider bass and theater like audio quality. The Voice+ voice enhancement technology paves way for clear conversation. Other features onboard are Battery Guru and Quick Charge for 40% faster charging, Kwik Lock double tap, Fit Home UI for single handed operation and support for Indian regional languages.

Comparison

The handset will be a tough challenger to the newly launched Asus Zenfone 5, Moto G and Xiaomi Mi3.
