Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 and Eluga Ray 700 launched in India

Panasonic has launched two new smartphones in its Eluga Ray series- Eluga Ray 500 and Eluga Ray 700. The pricing of the phones starts from Rs. 8,999 for Eluga Ray 500 and Rs. 9,999 for the Eluga Ray 700. Both the phones are exclusive to Flipkart and will go on sale from September 21.

The first phone from Panasonic, Eluga Ray 500 has a 5-inch HD screen and features a dual rear camera setup. The Eluga Ray 700 comes with a slightly bigger 5.5 inch full HD display and a 13MP front camera with LED flash. Both these phones feature a unibody metal design and have a fingerprint sensor on the front.

Coming to the specifications, the Eluga Ray 500 features a 5 inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS 2.5D curved glass display with NEG2 Glass protection. The Hybrid dual SIM (micro + Nano/microSD) phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat.

The phone is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.25 GHz coupled with Mali-T720 GPU. Memory wise, it packs 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory which is expandable up to 128GB with MicroSD.


For imaging, Eluga Ray 500 sports a horizontally placed dual rear camera setup. It features a 13MP primary rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture, along with a secondary 8MP camera with wide-angle lens and f/2.4 aperture. At the front, there is a 5MP camera with f/2.4 aperture.

Connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS. It also supports FM Radio and features a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone gets power from a 4000mAh battery.

Coming to the Eluga Ray 700, it packs a slightly bigger display. It features a 5.5 inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It also supports similar hybrid Dual SIM and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.

It is powered by a 1.3GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor coupled with Mali T720-MP3 GPU. It also packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory that is expandable up to 128GB with MicroSD.

In the camera department, it sports a single 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, PDAF, and f/2.0 aperture at the rear. It is capable of 1080p video recording. At the front, Eluga 700 has a 13MP camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and features 3.5mm audio jack, and FM Radio. This phone houses a bigger 5,000mAh battery.

Pricing and Availability

The Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 and Eluga Ray 700 are priced Rs. 11,990 and Rs. 13,990 respectively. However, the phones are currently available at a reduced price on Flipkart. The Eluga Ray 500 is listed at Rs. 8,999 and Eluga Ray 700 is listed at Rs. 9,999. Both the phones come in Mocha Gold, Marine Blue, and Champagne Gold color options. The phones will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart starting September 21.
