How to use Full Screen Gestures on Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has introduced new gesture controls for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Coming with the Chinese and Global Beta MIUI 9.5 update, you can enable these gestures from the Settings easily.

While we cannot predict the rollout to stable ROM, the Chinese and Global beta users can enjoy the feature now. The Full screen gestures are inspired from the ones on the Apple iPhone X. Other than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, other devices like Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. Here is how to use the full-screen gestures on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.

As seen in the leaked videos of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, the full-screen gestures on Xiaomi phones are now officially announced. The gestures will be supported by certain full-screen devices and all the upcoming devices with full-screen display. Here is how to enable the gestures on MIUI 9.5 Beta on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

  • To enable the gestures, go to Settings > Full Screen Display.
  • From here, select Full screen gestures and follow the tutorial.
  • Once enabled, the on-screen navigations buttons will be disabled.
  • You can use the gestures to navigate throughout the device.

With the gestures, you can Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to go to Home Screen. Swipe up from the bottom and pausing for a moment will take you to recent apps screen. To go back to the previous screen, swipe left from the right edge or swipe right from the left edge of the screen.

Xiaomi has also taken care of the optimisation for these gestures. For social media apps, that have their own in-app gestures, you can use the app’s gestures by swiping left and right from the top edge of the screen. Otherwise the swipe gestures will work for back, home, and recent apps screen. There are also optimisations for gaming which require you to swipe twice for the gesture to be activated. This saves any unintentional actions while gaming.
