Samsung Galaxy A6, Galaxy A6 Plus announced: Specifications, Features

After several leaks, Samsung has just announced the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus smartphones in its Galaxy A Series. Both the phones come with some latest features including Super AMOLED Infinity displays with 18.5:9 screen ratio and a sleek metal design. The devices also have an Always on Display that offers information at a glance without having to unlock the phone.

The Samsung Galaxy A6 series phones have some common features. The A6 Plus has a bigger display, the dual rear camera with Live Focus mode and Snapdragon 450 chipset, while Galaxy A6 sports a single camera and Samsung’s Exynos chipset. Other highlight features include Face Recognition, App Pair, Bixby Vision, as well as Samsung Pay. Both the phones will go on sale from early May starting in select European, Asian and American markets, before rolling out globally.

Samsung Galaxy A6 Specifications

The Galaxy A6 features a 5.6-inch HD+ (1480 x 720 pixels) Super AMOLED 2.5D curved glass Infinity display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 1.6GHz Octa-Core Exynos 7870 processor with Mali T830 GPU. Memory wise, it comes in two variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage or 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB with microSD.

In the camera department, it sports a 16MP rear camera with LED flash, f/1.7 aperture. Up front, there is a 16MP front-facing camera with f/1.9 aperture, and LED flash. Below the rear camera, it sports a Fingerprint sensor as well.


The dual SIM phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2.4/5GHz), HT40, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, ANT+, NFC, GPS, Glonass, BeiDou. It is powered by a 3000mAh battery. It also sports a 3.5mm audio jack and Dolby Atmos.

The Galaxy A6 Plus sports a slightly bigger 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity 2.5D curved glass display. It is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. It packs 3GB RAM with 32GB storage or 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, with expandable storage up to 256GB with microSD.

For optics, the A6 Plus sports a dual rear camera setup. It comes with a 16MP primary rear camera with LED flash, f/1.7 aperture, accompanied by a 5MP secondary camera with f/1.9 aperture. There is a 24MP front-facing camera with f/1.9 aperture, and LED flash.

The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo. The dual-SIM phone has several connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2.4/5GHz), HT40, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, ANT+, NFC, GPS, Glonass, BeiDou. It also sports a Fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, and Dolby Atmos. The device keeps ticking by a 3500mAh battery.
