Xiaomi today launched its much awaited Mi 5X smartphone at an event in China. The Xiaomi Mi 5X is priced at CNY 1,499 and will be available in Gold, Black and Rose Gold color options.
The phone runs on MIUI 9, the latest version of company’s custom skin based on Android 7.1 Nougat. The device comes with a dual camera setup at the rear, sporting the same 12 MP setup as seen on the Xiaomi Mi 6.
The company today also unveiled MIUI 9. The latest MIUI comes with a lot of improvements such as Smart Assistant, built-in Image Search and much more.
Xiaomi Mi 5X Specifications
The Mi 5X features a full metal unibody design and a fingerprint scanner on the back. The design with the discreet antenna band running from the top left corner seems heavily inspired from the iPhone 7 Plus.
Xiaomi Mi 5X features a 5.5 inch full HD IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X runs the latest version of company’s optimized skin MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. This skin adds many new features to Xiaomi devices. The company has already announced almost 35 devices will be getting updated with the latest firmware.
The phone will be powered by an octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. It will be coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB.
If we talk about the camera, which is another major highlight of the phone, it features a dual camera setup at the rear. Both the cameras are of 12MP and one of the camera lenses will be telephoto whereas the other will be a wide-angle lens. Other features include autofocus, optical zoom, dual-LED (dual tone) flash and Portrait mode with SLR style background blur. There is a 5MP front camera for selfies.
Connectivity options include, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, A2DP, LE, GPS with A-GPS. Apart from the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, it also features an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. The battery housed in Mi 5X is 3,080mAh. The phone supports USB Type-C for charging and data syncing.
Pricing and Availability
The Mi 5X is exclusive for the Chinese market for now. It will cost CNY 1,499 which roughly translates to Rs. 14,290. There is no information about when it will be coming to other markets.
