List of iPhone’s With Official Support For JIO, How To Enable VoLTE on iPhone

Once we are done with Android, now it’s time to help our buddies on iOS. Reliance Jio is not acting friendly to Apple users since the day it has entered the market. In the beginning, there were no preview codes available for Apple iPhones and it continued till the Jio was officially announced.  Now when Apple users can redeem the codes for a new Jio SIM, there is a confusion among many users about which phones are supported.

Which iPhones can be used for VoLTE calling?

Almost every iPhone after the iPhone 5 has hardware support for VoLTE but Apple has restricted the baseband due to unexplained reasons. So the iPhones with VoLTE support include:

  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus

As far as iPhone 5s is concerned, it comes with Qualcomm MDM9615M chip, and it has support for VoLTE as listed on Qualcomm’s official website. But as we said, Apple has not included it in any  of the iOS updates yet.

How to configure Reliance Jio VoLTE enabled SIM on your iPhone?

You can setup the VoLTE on your iPhone by following this easy method:

Insert Jio SIM in your iPhone and you will see a pop up asking for “Carrier Settings Update”. It will basically ask you to update the existing network settings.

  1. Click on update.
  2. The next step is to activate Wi-Fi calling option
  3. Go to Setting > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling and turn on the switch
  4. You are now ready to make a VoLTE call.
