Samsung Pay in India gets Android 8.0 Oreo support

Samsung has started rolling out a new update to its mobile payments app Samsung Pay in India. The update brings along support for Android 8.0 Oreo and the update is 104 MB in size. At the moment, it is available in India for now but it is not clear when it will be pushed out in other countries.

It is to be mentioned that none of the Samsung smartphones have received the Android 8.0 update yet. So, Samsung Pay getting Android Oreo support in India hints that the Oreo update could soon be arriving to at least some of the Samsung phones in the country.

Moreover, the Samsung Pay update coincides with a new report claiming that Samsung is planning to start a Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo Beta Program in the United States on October 31. So, it is speculated that the company may also run a similar scheme in India at the same time.

If we talk about the Oreo Beta Program in the US, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners on T-Mobile or Sprint carriers will be able to sign up for the beta through the Samsung Members and Samsung+ apps. The update will bring all of the new features and improvements included in Android 8.0 Oreo to the Samsung’s flagships.

While Samsung is yet to confirm the Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program, it’s also unknown if the company is planning a similar program for the recently launched Galaxy Note 8 as well. However, it is still safe to assume that the Galaxy Note 8 as well as the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be among the first Samsung devices to receive the Oreo update.
