Nokia Lumia 510 Review Hardware, Software, Price and More

Nokia made a great announcement when they announced Nokia Lumia 510 as it was and still is till date the best windows phone which comes at a affordable price and the things like 4.0 inch capacitive touch screen and runs on windows phone 7.5 out of the box but if we take a look on the hardware it seems bit underpowered but still it is really a good option for a those looking for a smartphone at this price point.

Design

The build quality of this device is the best you can get at Rs. 10,000 price point, as we normally expect from Nokia, the back side of the phone is rubberized matte finish which will not tend to have any scratches the amazing 4 inch capacitive touch screen display is quite good and gives a great feel with the nice square tiles UI, the button on the phones including the camera shutter, volume rocker and others feels quite tactile while pressing them.

Display and Hardware

The display on Nokia 510 is not very vibrant but it does look good due to its big 4 inch touch screen size, talking about the hardware it runs on 800Mhz Cortex A5 MSM7227A Snapdragon processor, Windows Phone 7.5 is extremely smooth on the hardware. Start using a lot of apps and the constraints of the processor and the very limited 256MB of RAM.

Camera and Multimedia

It has 5MP auto focus camera which is quite snappy and faster does perform quite good in day light or proper light but not very good in low light conditions. When it comes to video player, it supports MP4, H.264/H.263 or WMV file formats and specially videos while playing does look good on the 4 inch screen. Apart from all this when you buy this phone, you can download unlimited music songs on the device for next 3 months.

Browser and Battery Life

The browser on Nokia 510 is good enough for normal browsing and it also renders the page quite quickly however it may take some time to load the photo on a page. It does support pinch to zoom, panning etc. If we talk about battery it comes with 1300 mAh battery which is quite good to moderate usage for browsing, messaging and calling etc for around 1 day use.

Pros

  • Big display
  • Build Quality

Cons

  • Low storage
  • Low RAM
  • No LED Flash with Camera

Conclusion

The Nokia Lumia 510 is the best affordable Windows Phone device. It has a large 4 inch screen, with some great apps from Nokia and other on windows phone market place, but the main disappointment of this device is around 1.6 GB which is actually available to the user for installing applications and low 256 RAM makes it little bit slow over time when you install apps on it.
