IDEA WHIZ Quick Review, Price and Comparison

Idea Telecom, the Indian telecom market leader has come up with another 3G device and with this launch it seems the Idea is on the go in terms of launching the smartphones. Earlier the company had launched an smartphone AURUS II, that was also packed with numerous features and share some common feature with Idea Whiz including dual Sim functionality and support the 3G connections. And hence we can say this telecom industry, in recent days is trying hard to compete in the race for launching number of devices. This latest product from Idea The Idea ‘Whiz’ can be a proving factor to fulfill the base for the Idea.

On the hardware front the Idea Whiz comes with the 1 GHz dual-core processor to ensure the faster performance and gets the support of 512 MB of RAM that can help the phone to support the variety of larger applications. It runs on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) which is not the latest Android version but can ensure the satisfaction to the user who are new to the Android and want to get hands on Android. Also the Idea Whiz comes with the 4.0 inch capacitive touch screen that comes with the screen resolution of about (800 x 480) pixels.

The phone is featured with the 4 GB of internal memory, out of which 1.5 GB of memory is user accessible and this internal storage can be expanded up to 32 GB by using the micro SD card. The device will sport a primary camera that comes with the 5.0 megapixel auto focus that lets the user to capture the better images and has the secondary camera that comes with the VGA camera to enable the user to perform the video calling.

This dual sim device could provide GSM support on both the sim activated in the device and hence provide (GSM + GSM) with Dual Standby option. On the connectivity options it comes with the 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP. The 3G support lets it user to stream the internet fastly as compared to the GSM network. On the Battery side the Idea Whiz boosts the 1500 mAh battery that gives the gives 12.5 hours of talktime on 2G and 8.5 hours on 3G. That seems to be quite impressive for this type of phone. The device will be coming packed with the Handset, Battery, Charger, Earphone, USB Cable, User Manual, A warranty Card.

The technical specs of the Idea Whiz seems reasonable but it lacks certain important features like it is coming with Android v4.0 which is hard to understand as the phones that were launched previously to the Whiz had been released with the Android v4.1 and these could proved to be a major drawback of the device. The RAM size could have been better as 512 MB seems to be somewhat lesser for the larger applications and with the price tag of Rs.7850 it seems to be somewhat unusual. Also the previous Idea phone the Aurus II, that was launched previously was launched with Android v4.1.

So all in all phone comes with the interesting features and can be hard to comment if the device is worth especially when we have few other device with better specs available in the market from Indian manufacturer like Micromax, karbon .The only thing that look attractive and worth for the second look is that you will get subsidy in 3G data pack usage or in the call rates when using the connection of the same cellular service provider along with the above discussed specs. The price of this phone is Rs.7,850 INR and it will be available in the electronic stores soon.
