Samsung Galaxy Core Quick Review, Price And Comparison

The Samsung Galaxy Core is another mid-range device from Samsung which recently got unveiled. The phone comes with a relatively small screen and decent specifications, pretty much reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy S2. In this post we shall be reviewing the Core based on the specifications and form factor of this new device from Samsung, and whether or not you should go ahead and buy it.

 Camera And Internal Storage

The phone comes with a 5MP main camera which sits at the rear. This shooter is complemented by an LED flash, and other popular features like autofocus. Since this phone is not very feature-heavy, a 5MP camera seems perfect for the cause. On the storage front, the phone packs 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 64GB via means of a microSD card, which means you’ll not find yourself falling short of space any time.

For video calls and other purposes, Samsung have included a 0.3MP VGA camera on the front which should pretty much do the job for most people.

Processor And Battery

The Galaxy Core is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor, which is further complemented by 1GB of RAM. This means that the phone should be powerful enough for daily tasks and light gaming at times. The presence of 1GB RAM ensures that the phone will have enough available RAM even though a few apps might be running in the memory.

On the battery front, the phone packs a nominal 1800mAh battery. Given the screen size of the phone, 1 day of usage shouldn’t be a tough job, given you use the phone moderately. Intensive gamers and voracious users might want to carry the charger around, for the battery might dip quite fast with that sort of usage.

Display Size And Type

The phone comes with a 4.3 inch display which should be easy to handle and carry around, apart from easily fitting in your pocket. The 4.3 inch panel packs a WVGA resolution of 480×800 pixels which is not the best in the market today, but should do well enough for casual daily tasks like emailing and IM.

The display might not be the most perfect for multimedia and gaming lovers, since the real estate on the screen might not be able to cater to the needs of these. Gamers and multimedia users might want to look at other available options such as the Galaxy Grand, etc.

Comparison

The phone can be stacked up against a variety of devices such as Samsung’s own Galaxy S2, Galaxy S Advanced, etc. Among domestic manufacturers, phones like the Canvas 2 from Micromax might give this phone some tough competition in the ever-so-competitive Indian smartphone market.

Conclusion

The phone does look pretty decent with the specifications and the screen size. However, there is no word on the pricing yet from Samsung. We will have to wait for that, let’s hope Samsung keeps it somewhere around the 13,000 INR. If Samsung does indeed price it that way, the phone will definitely be worth it and will give some tough competition to domestic manufacturers. At this point of time, we know that the phone will be available in two colours; namely, White and Blue. Samsung galaxy core is now available for pre-ordering at a price of Rs.15,199
