After seeing an array of releases from Chinese manufacturers like Gionee and ZTE, domestic manufacturers are back with a bang. Here we talk about the iBall Andi 5h Quaro – the phone was launched yesterday, and at 11,999 INR the phone seems to be one among the numerous devices from domestic manufacturers offering a good value for money. The phone packs a powerful quad core processor and 1GB of RAM. In true ‘mediatek’ spirit, the phone packs 4GB of ROM.
Let us go ahead and look into the specifics of the device.
Camera And Internal Storage
The phone packs an impressive 12MP unit at the rear, which is seen as above average for this price range. Most manufacturers tend to include only 8MP units for a similar price, and phones with 12/13MP cameras cost substantially more. On the front, the iBall Andi 5h Quadro features a 2MP unit which is a regular feature on budget devices.
As mentioned previously, the phone comes with a rather disappointing 4GB of ROM. It has been quite a while since buyers as well as critics have been complaining of low user-available storage, however most manufacturers seem to pay no heed to this. We would definitely like to see 8 or 16GB of storage on these devices.
The phone features a microSD slot for expansion, however. The storage can be extended by up to 32GB.
Processor And Battery
The phone comes with a powerful MT6589 processor from Mediatek. The processor packs 4 Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.2GHz, and makes a pretty powerful setup comparable to last year’s Exynos 4412. The processor is coupled with 1GB of RAM, which means the phone will be good and smooth when it comes to multitasking as well has hardware intensive gaming. Only a few users will feel the need for more RAM.
The phone is powered by a 2200mAh battery, which, by the sounds of it, does sound good enough to take you through one entire day of moderate to heavy usage. It would also depend on how well iBall have optimized the Android OS for battery consumption.
Display And Features
The iBall device comes with a 5 inch display which packs a qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels. This can be considered average for a device of this sort, however, better ones are available in the market albeit for a bit more. The display should suffice for users looking for productivity on their device, but multimedia lovers might find themselves wanting. An HD display would have been perfect.
Among other features, the phone supports dual SIM and comes with Android v4.2 Jelly Bean, which can be considered pretty good.
Comparison
The quad core segment in the Indian market has been growing at an immense rate.
This means that the phone has innumerable competitors from manufacturers domestic and international. This can include devices like Videocon A55HD, XOLO Q1000, Lava Iris 504Q and a handful of devices from Micromax.

Conclusion
The phone does sound like a good device. However, iBall is not the most popular manufacturer in the country, and people still favour Micromax and XOLO more. The pricing of the device has been done quite well, which might help iBall in selling the device well. It might take iBall some time in gaining popularity, but the way it is going, we can imagine the device selling well with time.
